Jerome Windschitl

May 3, 1926 — September 23, 2012

Jerome Linus Windschitl was born on the family farm in Mulligan Township on May 3, 1926, the son of Bartl and Mary (Holm) Windschitl. He was united in marriage to Rita Callanan on July 14, 1956, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Jerome farmed his entire life and was a lifetime member of the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the choir, and a recipient of the Bishops Medal for the New Ulm Diocese. Jerome enjoyed playing the accordion, woodworking, doing mechanical work in his shop, and singing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and farming. His Christian faith was always very important to Jerome's life and his love of family was an example for all. Jerome Windschitl died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 86 years. He is survived by wife Rita of rural Comfrey; sons- Joseph and wife Debra A. Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, Patrick and wife Colleen Windschitl of Springfield, and Michael and wife Debra K. Windschitl of Comfrey; daughter Roseanne and husband John Kaseforth of Springfield; grandchildren- Katie (Mark) Lax, Cassandra (Emmanuel) Saye, Shelby Windschitl, Thomas and Lucas Windschitl, and Allison, Johnny and Joseph Kaseforth; and sister Evelyn Eischen of Comfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Abby Windschitl; sister Mary Rose Eischen; and a brother in infancy.
