Janet Bittner was born on August 7, 1927 in Springfield, MN the daughter of Jay and Martha (Larson) Patterson. She graduated from Springfield High School and attended the University of Minnesota . She received her degree from the South West Photographic Arts Institute in Dallas, Texas in May of 1950. Janet opened Jan's Studio in Springfield in the fall of 1950. Janet was united in marriage to Melvin Bittner on March 2, 1952. She closed her studio to raise her two sons and was a homemaker. In 1970 Janet along with her two sons opened Bittner Photography which was in business until 1984. Janet was an avid golfer and enjoyed shuffleboard. Janet and Melvin wintered at Sanian Ranch Campground in Lakeland, FL for 32 years. She enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and served as a 4-H leader. Janet died on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Wooddale Home in Redwood Falls, MN at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her sons - Jeffrey (Roxanne) Bittner of Redwood Falls, MN and Gregg (Lori) Bittner of Clermont, FL; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a brother - Pat (Catherine) Patterson of St. Peter, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Melvin in April of 2010; a two brothers- Calvin James Patterson and Beverly Jay Patterson.
