James Lee "Jim" Schultz, 83, of Springfield died Saturday, August 22, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Home. Due to current restrictions, a private family service will be held. Jim was born December 8, 1936, to Elmer and Delores Schultz in Springfield. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1954 and married Jeanelle Matheson on August 17, 1955. They raised their two children, Jeff and Jodi, on the family farm north of Springfield. Jim farmed in the Springfield area and served on many local boards including the Springfield Elevator, the Springfield Golf Club, and the Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post #257, and the Fides Masonic Lodge of Sanborn. Jim and Jeanelle wintered many years in Mission, Texas, moving there for 12 years during retirement, before returning to Springfield in 2018. Jim enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers. He loved sports, but the game of golf was his favorite, and he was proud of his record of seven holes-in-one. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanelle of Springfield; son Jeffrey (Diane) Schultz of Springfield; four grandchildren, Jennifer Schultz, Jackie (Tyler) Fredin, Jeama (Kyle) Boerboom, and Dillon (Brittney) Schultz; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Garrett of Albuquerque, New Mexico, brother-in-law Keith (Lynette) Matheson of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and daughter Jodi Lynn Schultz.
