James Edward Duscher was born on December 9, 1923 on the family farm near Gilfillan to William F. and Mary (Welter) Duscher. James attended county school and Redwood Falls Public School. Following his education, James worked with his father doing landscaping and various other jobs. He was united in marriage to LuVerne Otto on April 24, 1946 in Redwood Falls, MN. They raised 7 children. Jim and his family moved to Sleepy Eye in 1959 where Jim delivered Oak Grove Dairy products for awhile and then worked at the Orchid Inn as a chef. In 1968 they moved to Faribault, MN. Jim became employed at St. Paul Academy as head chef working there until his retirement in 1989. They moved back to Sleepy Eye in the fall of 1989 where they enjoyed their retirement. Jim enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and camping at various lakes in Minnesota with family and friends. James died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Divine Providence Community Home at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his daughters - Patty (Doyle) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, MN, Sister Marya Duscher of Jonesboro, AR, Barb (Roger) Holmes of Rosemount, MN, and Joleen Krueger of Clearlake, MN; a son - Ronald (Vickie) Duscher of Faribault, MN; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a sister - Delores (Elmer) Hartwig of N. Mankato, MN; and several nieces, nephews and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - LuVerne; daughters - Lori Duscher and Linda Reineke; brothers- Ed, LeRoy, Raymond, and William; and sisters - Rose Malecha, Norma Honzay, and Maryann Donner.
