Donations are preferred to: Minn-Kota Festival for World Relief Jacob A. Dick was born on December 20, 1917 to Jacob J. P. and Agatha (Heide) Dick on the family farm in Mountain Lake Twp. He served four years in the CPS (Civilian Public Service) during WWII. On December 7, 1943, Jacob married Arlene Mildred Peters at Bethel Mennonite Church. Jake managed several different grain elevators, the last one being in Odin, MN. In the 50's, Jake and Arlene moved to the city of Mountain Lake when Jake began selling seed corn. After the age of 40 he began a new career selling health and life insurance and thoroughly enjoyed this work until his retirement. He was active in his church, Bethel Mennonite, where he served as Trustee, Deacon and Financial Secretary for many years. He served on several community boards, including The Mt. Lake Foundation, Savings and Loan Board and the City Council. Upon retirement, Jake took up fine wood working and especially liked making dining tables, many of which he donated to MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) auctions for which he was a loyal supporter. Jake married Bessie M. Harder on June 12, 2009 at First Mennonite Church following an extended prayer partnership during the declining heath and death of their spouses. Jake is survived by his children: Mary (Martin) Harder, Minneapolis, Norman (Rosalie) Dick, Mountain Lake, and Marlin (Mary) Erin, Beaver Falls, PA, step-children: Rebecca Aum, Rachel (Nevin) Diener, David (Pratoomporn) Harder, Maryann Harder, and Wilma (Barb Swartley) Harder, eight grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Arlene in 2005 and Bessie in 2012, sister, Elizabeth Perry and brother, Peter Dick.
