Irene Stevenson

December 8, 1922 — April 4, 2008

Irene Marion Stevenson was born December 8, 1922 in Morris, MN, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Schmile) Krei. She was married to Lloyd Anderson on June 11, 1945. Irene and her husband, Lloyd owned and operated a bakery in Parkers Prairie, MN. In 1952 her husband, Lloyd passed away and she and her son Gary moved back to Morris. Irene worked at Max's, Werpy's, and Super Valu bakeries. She married Merle Stevenson in May of 1960. In 1976 she started working at the Stevens County Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper and eventually became Supervisor of Housekeeping. Her husband, Merle passed away in December of 1980. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Morris, the VFW and Legion Auxillary. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, and going to activities of her grandchildren. Irene retired from the hospital in 1989. In 1991 she moved to Springfield, MN to be close to her son Gary and his family. Irene died on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her son - Gary and wife Cindy Anderson of Sleepy Eye; grandsons - John and wife Charity of Buffalo, MN and Matthew and wife Elizabeth of Cavalier, ND; great grandchildren - Aidan, Noah, Talitha, Josiah, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; 3 brothers - Alfred, Roy, and Ralph; and 4 sisters - Minnie, Bertha, Ruth, and Lucille.
