Irene Fischer

April 21, 1924 — October 30, 2011

Irene B. Fischer was born on April 21, 1924 in rural Morgan, MN, daughter of Wolfgang Bertha (Braun) Spaeth. Irene married Herbert Fischer on April 30, 1947 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. The couple farmed in Home Township until 1961 when they purchased a farm in Sigel Township and later moved to a farm in Stark Township in 1981. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Stark Faithful Friends Home Extension Club and was a Stark Happy Hustlers 4-H Leader for 40 years. They wintered in Arizona for many years. Her hobbies included: bingo, cards, dominos, quilting, baking, gardening and canning. She is survived by her children, Jim (JoAnne) Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Carol (Jerry) Waibel of Searles, Dan (Debbie) Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Kathy Morris of Mankato, JoAnn (Kurt) Eischen of Comfrey, Larry (Debra) Fischer of Sleepy Eye and Donna (Kevin) Dewanz of New Ulm, 26 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, brothers sisters, Sylvester (Delores) Spaeth of Sleepy Eye, Alois (Margaret) Spaeth of New Ulm, Wilfred Bud (Theresa) Spaeth of Morgan, Loretta (Arthur) Simon of New Ulm, Lucille (Armin) Losleben of Sleepy Eye, brother-in-law, Erwin Suess of Mankato, sisters-in-law, Veronica Simon, Rosemary (Hilly) Tauer and Olivia (Howard) Binder, brothers-in-law, Art Fischer, Sylvester (LaVon) Fischer, Ben (Genny) Fischer and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb in 2008, sisters, Antoinette (Harold) Schugel and Monica Suess and brother, Felix Spaeth.
