Henry 'Hank' Neeb, age 76 of Sanborn, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Henry Neeb (known as Hank locally and Bud to family) was born in the rural Sanborn farm house where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Sanborn High School, and then farmed with his father Clarence until he took over the farm in 1964. That same year he married Berdine Schotzko and they began their life together on the farm, raising crops, cattle, and three children. They were married for almost 45 years. Henry enjoyed fishing and hunting earlier in life. While raising a family he spent most of his time working the farm, as well as being a part-time police officer, and a bouncer at the local ballroom. His favorite job was baling hay for people around the Sanborn area. He met a lot of good customers and friends whom he enjoyed thoroughly. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Berdine, including visits to their children's homes. He enjoyed solving the world's problems over coffee every day with friends at the local coffee shops. At home he was a quiet person who enjoyed the peace and solitude of the farm and the company of his dog. He led by example and taught his children the importance of education, hard work, discipline, and integrity. Although he didn't say much, he had a knack for saying the right thing when needed, and you could always be sure it was honest whether it was criticism or encouragement. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing friends whenever the opportunity arose. He is survived by: wife Berdine Neeb; brother Donald and Marie (Martius) Neeb; sister-in-law Donna (Flaig) Neeb; son Jim and Julie (Rogotzke) Neeb of Gilbert, AZ; daughter Patty and Brad Nielsen of Falcon, CO; daughter Karen Neeb, fianc Ben Bockenhauer of Holman, WI; and grandchildren Megan, Patrick, Emily, Pete, Sam, Paige, and Hannah. He was proceeded in death by: father Clarence Neeb; mother Kate (Platt) Neeb; brother Edward Neeb; sister Theresa Neeb; and brother Martin Neeb
