Harold Wendell Torgerson

Harold Wendell Torgerson was born on March 21, 1930 to Benny A. and Helen (Kopischke) Torgerson on the family farm near Lake Crystal, MN. Harold attended country school district 155. He helped his father farm until 1952 when he was drafted into the military. He served in the United States Army from March 25, 1952 to December 18, 1953 and received the Purple Heart after his time in the Korean War. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he returned to the Madelia area and was united in marriage to Kathryn Knowles on October 1, 1954. The couple had 3 children and were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Harold and Kathryn enjoyed spending time together, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren together. Harold enjoyed working on cars, reading books and visiting with family and friends. Harold was a lifelong member of the Madelia and Lake Crystal communities, a member of the American Legion and VFW in Madelia, the Military Order of Purple Heart, and a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. Harold W. Torgerson age 87, of Madelia, MN died on February 21, 2018, at his home in Madelia. Harold is survived by his wife, Kathryn Torgerson; sons, Barry (Shelley) Torgerson Of Laguna Hills, CA and Randy Torgerson of Garden Grove, CA; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gloria (Ronald) Rustman and brothers, Arthur and Virgil.
