Harold Rossbach

Harold William Rossbach was born at home in rural Hanska on Feb. 11, 1929 to parents Jacob and Marie (Finstad) Rossbach. He grew up in rural Hanska and graduated from Sleepy Eye H.S. He then went to Ag School for one year. Harold farmed the family farm and then united in marriage to his dear wife, Vera (Kintzi) Rossbach Sept. 2nd, 1955 at Albion Lutheran Church. After farming and raising livestock for many years, Harold started Rossbach Lakeside seeds where he grew seed for sale and eventually started his own seed cleaning plant on the edge of Lake Hanska. Harold was an advocate for Albion Lutheran church, Little Red Schoolhouse Assn and restoration (founding member), MN Crop Improvement, Brown County Historical Society where he held various positions of leadership. Besides farming his biggest love was of music where he participated in numerous singing groups, bands and choir groups in church, and in the community and sang for countless weddings, funerals and Syttende Mai events. Lakeland Choralaires, Four Sharps, Bible Folk Singers, Albion Singers, Albion Choir, Hanska Lakeshore Band and Kountry Klass to name a few. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking (built a boat for water skiing), making homemade root beer and ice-cream, and spending time with his family. Harold Rossbach passed away on Wed. Dec. 6th, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Home in St. James, MN. He was 88 years old. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, infant son, Thomas James and his parents, six sisters and their spouses, one brother, son-in-law Stephen Hanson, son- in-law Michael McAreavey and daughter-in-law Mary (Anderson) Rossbach. He is survived by his children, Jill Hanson of Fridley, Wayne and Gwen Rossbach of Hanska, Doug Rossbach of Hanska, Nancy and David Drummer of Mankato, Karen (Mosenden) McAreavey of Crooks, SD, Diane (Mosenden) and Steve Schertz of El Paso, IL, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Harold will be greatly missed but will be one of many angels singing in Gods heavenly chorus as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
