Glenn W. Romberg was born to Carl and Dorothy (Marti) Romberg on September 23, 1935 in Sleepy Eye and lived there all his life. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church on October 20, 1935 and was confirmed on April 10, 1949. He went to District 30 Country School, St. John's Lutheran School and attended Sleepy Eye Public High School, graduating in 1953. He met his wife, Marion Lee, of Fergus Falls, in 1955, riding horses at her uncle Vincent Robertson's Farm, west of Sleepy Eye. Glenn worked on the Romberg family farm until 1957 when he married and moved to a farm east of Sleepy Eye. Glenn was proud of his four daughters and their husbands, and of his grandchildren who filled his life with joy and laughter. Glenn was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, and served the congregation as an Usher, Council Member, and Officer. Glenn was a hog farmer, also running one of the largest farrow to finish operations in the state in the early 70's. He loved driving. He drove school bus, drove semi-truck for Reddemann's, hauled livestock for the Sleepy Eye Sales Barn, he transported clients for Brown County and CareCab. He drove grain truck for Christensen Farms and most recently, drove for Pork Stork. He also built grain bins for Case Sales and Service. Glenn never lost his love of horses and riding and was a member of the Sleepy Eye Saddle Club. He and Marion ran Romberg Western Wear next to their home outside of town for several years. Glenn W. Romberg, age 71, of Sleepy Eye, MN died Friday, February 23, 2007 at his home in Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and brother Robert. He is survived by his wife, Marion, daughters Susan (Harold) Abbas of Cambria, Patty (Tom) Reicks of Shakopee, Debra (Barry) Towle of Inver Grove Heights, and Cathy (Kurt) Augustin of Eagan, nine grandchildren: Gina and Claire Abbas, Kyle, Erin and Rachel Reicks, Clayton (Tina) Peterson, Vanessa Towle and Fiance Ricky Smith, Katie and Ryan Augustin, brother Charles (Sally) Romberg of Sleepy Eye, sister Jane (Richard) Aukrust of Hanska, sister-in-laws Karen (Tim) Beech of Sleepy Eye and Ardis (Don) Searles of Dalton, 9 nieces, 3 nephews, numerous cousins and many other relatives and friends.
