Gertrude Marti

Gertrude Marti of Sleepy Eye, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye surrounded by her family. Gertrude Clara Hauser was born at home in Home Township, Brown County, MN on August 2, 1923 to Frank and Angela (Breigenzer) Hauser. She attended country school and St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. Gertrude was united in marriage to Victor Hager Marti on October 30, 1940 at St. Mary's Church in Sleepy Eye, together they were blessed with 13 children. After their marriage they moved to Belgrade, MN and later lived in Sleepy Eye before moving to Victor's family farm. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She worked very hard for her family, raising food from the garden, canning and baking. She was a great cook and always welcomed visitors to her table. She loved growing flowers and playing cards and Farkle with her family and friends.She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Christian Mothers. She worked for Hose ACE Hardware for 27 years. Gertrude was named Resident of the year at Divine Providence in 2003. She is survived by her children; Monica Warwick of Sleepy Eye, Janet Jenniges of Finlayson, MN, Frank Marti of Sleepy Eye, Karen Deopere of Cambria, MN, Diane Hemmeter of Lino Lakes, MN, Ronald (Marlene) Marti of New Ulm, Anita (John) Hemmeter of Finlayson, Steven Marti of Sleepy Eye, Paul (LuAnn) Marti of New Ulm, Mary (Mark) Haller of Brookings, OR, Robert (Kathy Jo) Marti of Sleepy Eye, Julie (Richard) Sindelir of Morton, MN, Beverly (Dan) Kadlec of Lafayette, MN, 38 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, sister, Rita Augustin, brother, Cornelius (Kathy) Hauser, sister-in-law, Irene Hauser, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor in 2003, daughter-in-law, Karen Marti, sons-in-law, Norman Warwick, Mathias Jenniges, Dennis Deopere, grandson, Gregg Marti, granddaughter, Brenda Marti, brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard (Adelia) Hauser, Nicholas (Rosile) Hauser, brother, Sylvester Hauser, sister, Veronica Hoffmann, brother-in-law, Urban Augustin.
