George Lloyd Pooch was born on April 6, 1925 in rural Lamberton, MN the son of William Amelia (Pankonin) Pooch. He grew up in rural Lamberton and attended country school and later Lamberton High School for a couple of years. George farmed most all of his life on the family Century farm near Lamberton. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his discharge he returned to Lamberton. George married Shirley Schnobrich on September 29, 1949. The couple lived and farmed in rural Lamberton for many years. Shirley preceded him in death in December of 2007. George was a member of the Lamberton American Legion and the Church of Christ in Lamberton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed raising vegetables and sharing them with people at the assisted living center in Lamberton. Survivors include his son, Brian Pooch of rural Lamberton, three granddaughters, Hailey, Amanda and Mallory, two great grandchildren, Cadyn and Logan, sister, Jean Halter of Redwood Falls, sisters-in-law, Mildred Pooch and Evelyn Pooch of the metropolitan area. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley, brothers, Delmer, Larry Les, sisters, Mabel, Gladys and Alice.
