Genevieve Mildred Boelter, the daugher of Gustav and Frances (Salfisberg) Boelter was born on August 7, 1919 in Amboy, MN. She received her education at District #100 Country School. Genevieve was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Butterfield, MN before becoming a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, MN. On September 16, 1939 Genevieve was united in marriage to Erick Herman Wegner in Estherville, IA. They made their home and farmed together in the Butterfield area, and Genevieve also worked at Tony Downs Foods for thirteen years. Mr. Wegner died on March 2, 1988. Genevieve moved to St. James, MN in October 2005. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, time with her family, picking apples for her pies, and baking and cooking - especially pails of chocolate chip cookies. Genevieve died on Monday, December 29, 2008, at the St. James Medical Center in St. James. She attained the age of 89 years. Genevieve is survived by her four children, Judy Helferich and husband Edward of Butterfield, Jerry Wegner and wife Kathy of New Ulm, MN, Janice Vetter and husband John of St. James, and Gene Wegner and wife DeDe of St. James; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Anderson and husband Dale of St. James; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Boelter and Duane Boelter, both of Aitkin, MN; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Barbara Wegner; a son, Ronald Wegner; a great granddaughter, Johanna Anderson; and three brothers, Willard, John and Lester Boelter.
