Genevieve Murdock

Genevieve Louanna Murdock, 97, passed away on November 19, 2014, at Perham Living Nursing Home, Perham, Minnesota. Genevieve was born on June 15, 1917 in Ellendale, Minnesota to Martin and Mathilda Miller. Gen grew up in Ellendale where she graduated from high school in 1934. After high school Gen worked for a dentist in Owatonna, Minnesota. She married Wallace Murdock in 1939 in Ellendale, Minnesota. They were happily married for 23 years. Gen worked as a loan officer for Owatonna Savings and Loan from 1963 to 1986 when she retired. Gen was passionate about cooking and loved to entertain for family and friends. Gen loved music and was accomplished at playing the piano, violin and saxophone. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister Lue and friends. Some of her happiest memories took place at Mille Lacs Lake where she spent lots of time with family and friends. Her love of life and her ability to make everyone she met feel special was a true gift. And to all those she touched, she will be remembered and missed. Gen is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, her parents, Martin and Mathilda, three brothers, Manfred, Emery, and Allen, and a sister, Luella Severson. Gen is survived by her three sons, Mitch (Karen) Murdock, Sacremento, California, Marvin (Janice) Murdock, Bonaire, Georgia, Mark (Patricia) Murdock, Ottertail, Minnesota, one brother, LeRoy Miller, Minneapolis, Minnesota, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, all who affectionately called her Nana. Per Gen's wishes, her body was donated to the Mayo Clinic for research purposes. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
