Gary Weber

Gary Lawrence Weber, age 75, of Springfield MN died Saturday Oct. 15, 2011 at Wooddale Home in Redwood Falls. Gary was born July 29, 1936 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, to Leonard and Lorena (Schneider) Weber. After school, Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965 as a guard at a fuel depot in Korea. Upon returning from the service, Gary married Marcia Ann Hornick on Aug. 29, 1963, where they farmed and raised four sons, Mark, Mike, Keith, and Kevin, in Leavenworth, MN. Nearing retirement from farming he started working for Mathiowetz Construction in Leavenworth. Gary liked the outdoors and liked to camp, hunt and fish. He was a bit of an inventor, tinkerer, and artist, working on wood and leathercraft projects in his shop. Gary also loved to travel, with a favorite destination being the American south and southwest. Later in life, he enjoyed dancing, socializing, and taking road trips on his motorcycles. Gary was a member of St. Raphael's Parish, the Knights of Columbus, the NRA, NFO, and Farmers Union. He served on the Brown County Soil Conservation Board, and in 1984, the Weber farm received a MN Century Farm designation. Surviving Gary is his dear friend Kathy Vogel of Sanborn, ex-Wife Marcia Weber of Comfrey, sons Mark of New Prague, MN, Mike of Comfrey, MN, Keith of Evan, MN, and Kevin of Eagle Lake, MN, his brother Kenny of Spring Hill, FL, brother Donald of Sholo, AZ, and granddaughter MacKenzie Weber of Eagle Lake. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharron Ibberson of Sleepy Eye, MN, brother Duane of Sleepy Eye, MN and sister Charlotte Wall of CA.
