Frieda Feeken

Frieda Emma Esther Feeken was born May 11, 1910, in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, the daughter of Henry J. and Augusta (Rauschke) Krueger. Frieda graduated from Comfrey High School in 1928 after which she attended Mankato State Teacher's College. She taught several terms at Kasson, MN and was united in marriage to Henry Feeken on September 30, 1931. In 1936, the couple moved to Willow Creek Farm east of Comfrey where they farmed until Henry's death on September 11, 1967. In 1970, Freida started working for Comfrey Hospital as a laundress where she enjoyed the work and fellowship with the hospital family. Frieda was a lifetime member of New Hope (Salem) Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School teacher, church organist, Sunday School Teaching Training Program, and choir. She also served as Education Chairman for several terms in the Bethany Society. A lifetime resident of Comfrey, Frieda enjoyed gardening, especially making trees grow from seeds, and was always pleased to share flowers for church, birthdays, and special occasions. Frieda Feeken died February 27, 2009, at her home in Comfrey at the age of 98 years, 9 months, and 16 days. She is survived by sons- Ronald and wife Dorothy Feeken of Comfrey, and Henry Dean and wife Marilyn Feeken of Adel, IA; daughters- Frieda Jean (Feeken) Hanson of Comfrey, and Cherry Ann (Feeken) Taylor of Comfrey; son-in-law Harold and wife Jan Herrig of Mt. Lake; daughter-in-law- Pat Feeken of Topeka, KS; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 12 great, great grandchildren; sister Eleanor (Krueger) Pidde of Comfrey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry; daughter Lucille Grace (Feeken) Herrig; and son Roy Feeken.
