The family is designating memorials to the Mountain Lake Christian School. Frances Ruby Harder was born to Henry and Helen (Falk) Harder on March 26, 1927 on a farm SW of Mountain Lake. She attended school at Dist. 12, and Mountain Lake High School. Frances was baptized at the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake in May 1946 and later transferred her membership to the Lakeview Gospel Church in Mountain Lake. On June 26, 1946, Frances married Ervin Loewen. They made their home on a farm south of Mountain Lake for over 59 years before they retired to an apartment in Mountain Lake in August 2006. She was active in her church by teaching Sunday school and as a member of Mission Society. She also sang in church choirs and the Mountain Lake Gospel Singers. They were leaders of Loyal Lakers 4-H club, she was a member of the Neighborhood Club from its beginning in 1947, and she always enjoyed being with family and friends. Frances, with her husband Ervin, enjoyed fishing in Minnesota and Canada, she especially loved taking her grandchildren fishing, they traveled to Europe four times, including once for Vernelle's wedding, and they traveled most of the U.S. including Maui to visit Charles' family and Florida to visit Douglas. Frances died on Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents. Frances is survived by her husband, Ervin Loewen of Mountain Lake; 4 children, Vernelle (Parviz) Loewen Pakravan, Mark (Patty) Loewen of Mountain Lake, Charles (Paula) Loewen of LaHaina, Maui, HI, and Douglas (Cynthia Camlin) Loewen of Bellingham, WA; 8 grandchildren; a great grandson; a sister, Gladys (Leo) Harder of Mountain Lake; a brother, Leslie (Gladys A.) Harder of Mountain Lake; many other relatives and friends.
