Faith LaJune (Hoffmeister) "June" Lunz, was born in Fairmont, MN to Elmer and Lilly (Wetenkamp) Hoffmeister on June 11, 1931. June grew up in Fairmont and was a graduate of Fairmont High School. She married her husband Jerry Lunz on January 2, 1954 in the First Presbyterian Church in Madelia. The couple was blessed with 6 children whom she loved dearly. She was a hard worker, diligently working at Tony Down's Foods, as well as the Madelia Community Hospital as a nurses aide. In 1976 Jerry and June opened "Jerry's Cafe" in Madelia where she worked with Jerry for many years. June was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, found time to volunteer as a Girl Scout leader, assisted Jerry when he was a Boy Scout Leader, volunteered for the local food shelf and served 11 years on the Board of Directors of the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, watching the birds at her feeders, going for leisurely drives in her car and playing board games. June passed away at the age of 85 on September 21, 2016, at Ridgeway on German in New Ulm. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. June is survived by her children, Betsy Hanson of Two Harbors, Jan Lunz of New Ulm, Kathy (Rick) Smith of Madison Lake, Deb (Dave) Lokre of St. James, Sandy Lunz of New Ulm, Guy Lunz of Grand Rapids; brother, Harold Hoffmeister of Luling, TX; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; brother, Fred Stabenow, sisters, Ann Bursford, Lillian Pygman and Dorothy Winter. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Ridgeway on German - New Ulm and the Luther Memorial Home - Madelia for all of their help and kindness these past years.
