Graveside Service: 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, Augusta, MN There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary at 4pm and a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30pm, both Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held prior to the entombment at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, St. Augusta from 2 - 3:30pm on Wednesday. Entombment at St. Mary Help of Christians Cemetery, St. Augusta, MN. Evelyn Evie Proell was born on February 27, 1946 in St. Cloud, MN to Albert Victoria (Fischer) Schmidt. She attended St. Augusta Grade School and graduated from Technical High School in St. Cloud in 1964. She married LeRoy Butch Proell on September 12, 1970 at the St. Mary Help of Christians Church in St. Augusta, MN. The couple moved to Sleepy Eye, where they raised their family. Evie worked at the Germain Hotel and Fingerhut in St. Cloud, MN, provided in-home daycare, worked at the Sleepy Eye Herald Dispatch, Inn of Seven Gables, Century 21, Jerry Burns Realty, and Koeckeritz Realty. Evie loved gardening, cooking, listening to Elvis music and spending time with her family. Evie will be remembered as a person with a positive attitude, who found good in everyone, and trusted in the power of prayer. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Survivors include her husband, Butch Proell, children, Kristine (Martin) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Lia (Paul) Peterson of Blooming Prairie and Jason Proell of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Jessica Sellner, Andria Sellner, Holly Sellner, Taylor Peterson and Chase Peterson; brothers, Gilbert (Theresa) Schmidt of St. Augusta, Gerald (Bernice) Schmidt of Clearwater, sister, Delphine Waltzing of Clearwater, sister-in-law, Kathy Schmidt of St. Augusta, brother-in-law, Duane (Cindy) Proell of Minnetonka, brother-in-law, David (Mary) Proell of Avon, 27 nieces nephews (including 5 God-children), 69 great nephews nieces and 16 great great nephews nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Schmidt in October of 1967, mother, Victoria Schmidt in April of 2005, brother, Clarence Schmidt in September of 1995, mother-in-law, Florence Proell in November of 1988, father-in-law, Alphonse Proell in December of 1995, sister-in-law, June Schmidt in May of 1980, brother-in-law, Denis Waltzing in April of 2003, great nephew, Charles Schmidt in January of 2003, and niece-in-law, Judy Waltzing in September of 1992. Evie's family would like to thank the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Rochester Mayo Clinic, the New Ulm Medical Center and New Ulm Home Care Hospice for the loving care during her 2 year and 8 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
