Emeline Elizabeth Elg was born December 8, 1913, in Comfrey, MN, the daughter of Hugo and Ellen (Johnson) Wollin. After her mother died when Emeline was very young, she was raised by a devoted step-mother, Lola. Emeline was a graduate of Comfrey High School and was united in marriage to Burton Elg on June 11, 1935, in Comfrey. She loved to sing and sang for many funerals and other events. Emeline was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, later New Hope Lutheran, and was active in the ELCW and the church choir. She was also a member of the Comfrey Music Club, the Comfrey Hospital Auxiliary, St. John's Lutheran Home Auxiliary, and the Comfrey Health Care Auxiliary. Emeline enjoyed housekeeping, cooking, baking, embroidery, and sewing. The couple was blessed to have been able to celebrate their Silver, Golden, and 60th wedding anniversaries. Emeline Elg, age 92 of Comfrey, died Friday, November 10, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Survivors include sons- James and wife Shirley Elg of Mankato, and Larry and wife Jeanne Elg of Lake Crystal; daughter-in-law- Larene Elg of Northfield; grandchildren- Adam Elg, Tina Elg, Roger Miller, Kimberly (Jeff) Evers, and Kaysie Elg; step-grandchildren- Tammy (Ken) Miller, Tricia Doerr, Thomas Doerr, Laurie Forsythe, Jay Zempel, and Carrie (Kent) Heise; and 11 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Burton in 1998; and son- Gerald in 2006.
