Elsie grew up near Lake Wilson. She survived two serious illnesses as a young person. She moved to Minneapolis, attended school at Asbury/Methodist Hospital, and became a Registered Nurse. She married John in Minneapolis on June 15, 1948. They raised their family first in Morgan and then in St. James. Elsie was a pillar of her church, United Methodist Church in St. James. She will be remembered for her generous good nature, her upright Scottish character, her love of conversation, her appreciation of nature, and especially for her loving support of young people. Elsie May Hageman passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato at the age of 88 years. Preceded in death by parents, Henry and Alice (Kench) Anderson; brother Francis; sister Margaret. Survived by husband John of St. James; sisters Florence Larson of Apple Valley and Laura Delaney of Fircrest, Washington; sons William of Eden Prairie, David (Elizabeth) of Mankato; and grandchildren Brandt, John, and Elise.
