Ellwood Johnson

Ellwood Johnson passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James. Ellwood LeRoy Johnson was born November 1, 1930 in Madelia to parents Roy and Eda (Weymouth) Johnson. Ellwood attended country school and Bloomington schools. He returned to St. James in 1947 to farm with his father and brother Clayton. On September 17, 1950 he was united in marriage to Nettie Schardt at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was confirmed and baptized in 1952 at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James by Pastor Peterson. He retired from farming in 1991. Ellwood enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant, geese and fishing. He enjoyed his many fishing and hunting trips with his family and friends. He moved into St. James in 2000. He and Nettie enjoyed wintering in Arizona. He enjoyed going to the Band Box in the morning and in the afternoon to McDonalds for coffee. Survivors include his wife Nettie of St. James, 3 sons; Steven (Connie) Johnson of Currituck, NC, Scott (Sue) Johnson of St. James, Randy Johnson of Mabel, MN, grandchildren; Nicolle (Ryan) Bauerschmidt, Travis (Katie) Johnson, Brent (Lauren) Johnson, Kyle (Stephanie) Johnson, Shane Johnson, Shawna (Tim) Boomgarden, Darci (Rhys) Tiedeken, Ashley Johnson, great-grandchildren; Ripley & Ellory Bauerschmidt, Audrey, Olivia & Diane Johnson, Ellwood, Waylon & June Johnson, Kylen & Mattea Boomgarden, Kira, Deshawn, Bayray & Kyler Wright. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Clayton, sisters Evelyn Peterson and Jessie Swanson. Visitation 1 9:30 am - 10:30 am Friday, August 24, 2018 St. Paul's Ev.
