Edwin E. Polesky, age 91, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. The Lord needed a solid, middle infielder and called him up to be in the starting line up. Edwin served in the U.S. Marines from August 1945 until October 1946. He married Dorothy Kosak on March 17, 1954, they were married for 64 years and had seven children. He began his farm operation in 1944 and continued to help around the family farm until he retired. Family and farming was his life. Edwin played in the Western Minny League and continued that love of baseball as a youth baseball coach. Edwin loved attending and cheering on all of his children and grandchildren at their events and activities, and was a dedicated fan to all the local athletes. He also ran score clock for high school basketball and was a big fan of the MN Twins and Vikings. He was an avid fisherman and loved deer hunting with the family each fall. He was also a clever card player, who loved playing 500 until the wee hours every New Years with his dear friends. Ed was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Superintendent, usher, church board member and President. Ed was first and foremost a man of great faith and he passed that faith on to his family. To his children and grandchildren, Ed will be remembered as a magnificent story teller. He shared many, many stories always bringing smiles and laughter to his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, children, Linda (Jerry) Haala, Linel (Mike) Reiber, Julie (Bill) Vogeler, Monica (Mark) Augustin, Sandy (Dr. Dean) Brinkman, Brian (Carol) Polesky, Karen (Alistair) Jacques, 19 grandchildren, sisters, Vangie Madsen, Evie Drill, brothers-in-law, Butch Kosak, Richie Kosak, sister-in-law, Agnes Feierer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Arnold (Gen) Polesky, Benny (Mary) Polesky, Wally Polesky, Lorraine Polesky, Wilbert Polesky, Manny Polesky, Edwina (Victor) Kiecker and brothers-in-law, Linus Madsen and Ed Drill.
