Edna Stadtlander

Edna Mae Stadtlander, daughter of Dick and Nellie Walters, was born in Cottonwood County Minnesota on August 11, 1915 and passed away at the Windom Community Hospital on July 19th after attaining 97 years 11 months 8 days. Edna married Carl Stadtlander, Jr., on April 24, 1934 in Cottonwood County. After their marriage, they farmed in the Windom, Comfrey and Mt. Lake area. In 1942, they moved to Stratford, South Dakota where they farmed until the fall of 1954 when they moved back to the home place near Mt. Lake. She was always active in assisting for church functions and was an active member of the Ladies Circle of the Congregational Church in Brentford, South Dakota. Edna enjoyed gardening while raising her five children. She canned her produce and friends and family loved her fried chicken. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidery work. She is survived by two daughters; Darlene (Dean) Gilborne of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Sandra (Gary) Goertzen of Sachse, Texas. One son, Richard (Joan) of Watertown, Minnesota, daughter-in-law Janice (Melvin) Stadtlander of Mt. Lake; sixteen grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren; sister Lorraine Schulte and brother Robert Walters and sister-in-law Mary (Don) Walters. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Father and Step-Mother; husband Carl, daughter, Phylis Bollerslev, son, Melvin Stadtlander, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother.
