Earl Herbert Schrupp

August 19, 1943 — September 30, 2016

Earl Herbert Schrupp was born August 19, 1943, at the Vesta Maternity Hospital to Herbert and Erna (Gladitsch) Schrupp. He was baptized September 9, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vesta and confirmed at Zion (now Our Savior's) Lutheran Church in Lamberton on April 14, 1957. Earl attended rural school District 82 for 2 years. His family then moved to Lamberton where he graduated in 1961. During his school years he enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and Legion baseball. Following graduation, Earl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 23, 1961, and served as a dental specialist until his honorable discharge on July 23, 1965. He then served for 2 years in the Reserve. He attended the University of Minnesota and received an Associate's Degree in Horticulture. Earl was united in marriage to Karen Possin on December 7, 1967, and the couple owned a nursery and landscaping business in Mound, MN. They later divorced. During his lifetime, Earl worked at other jobs including helping his father at the Standard Service in Lamberton, Toro Manufacturing, as a Post Office clerk, in the St. Mary's Hospital engineering department, and as foreman and supervisor for Henning and Rhode and Associates. In 1981, he started his own landscaping and snow removal business which he sold when he started Notouch, Inc. to promote his patented invention to dispense chemicals safely. Earl won the Golden Medal Award at the Redwood Falls Inventors Congress in 1991 with this invention. He moved to Copperas Cove, TX to manufacture Notouch. Due to a lost business backing, the business was closed and he moved back to Minnesota. Earl enjoyed fishing and watching sports. Having diabetes and other health problems, he became a resident at an assisted living home in Brooklyn Park for several years. Additional health problems required a move to Golden Living Center in St. Louis Park until his death on September 30, 2016, at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his brother Rolland (Eleanor) Schrupp of Howard Lake, MN; and sisters- JoAnn Schultz of Balaton, MN, and Marian Yoder of Defiance, OH.
