Dorothy Marie was born on October 2, 1932 in New Ulm, MN the daughter of Joseph J. and Leona (Seifert) Zeig. She attended school in a one room school house and enjoyed growing up on the family farm. She married her childhood sweet heart, Delmar Haala at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm on May 20th, 1953. Dorothy was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also a former leader of the Stark Happy Hustlers 4-H club, a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and a volunteer at The Next Tu Nu. She received the Catholic Community Service Award as well as the St. Marys Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award. During her lifetime, she held jobs at Del Monte and Countryside apartments. Dorothy was the lead cook for funerals at St. Mary's for 33 years. She enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, quilting and sewing, fishing, traveling, polka music and dancing, as well as outings to Jackpot Junction. Most importantly, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandkids. She looked forward to hosting family gatherings and attending the grandkids events. Dorothy had a special, caring relationship with her daughter Cherie. Dorothy was a dedicated farm partner to her husband Delmar for 69 years. She was devoted to her faith and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Dorothy is survived by her Husband, Delmar Haala, Sons, Gerald (Linda) Haala of Sleepy Eye, Cory (Kathy) Haala of Sleepy Eye, Daughters, Catherine Haala of Sleepy Eye and friend, Seth Weinstein, Chris (Dean) Deibele of Chanhassen, Cherie Haala of New Ulm. Grandchildren Dustin (Luisa) Haala, Darrin Haala, Whitney Haala, Ryan Deibele, Brooks (Katie) Deibele, Cole (Annie) Deibele, Jacob Deibele (fiancée, Jamie Hayes), Allie Deibele, Zachary Haala, and Paige Haala. Six great-grandchildren. Brothers, Leo (Linda) Zeig, Larry (Marlys) Zeig, Brother in law, Lynn Haala, Sisters in law, Verna Wendinger and Melva Haala, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Zeig, sister-in-law, Alize Zeig, in-laws, William and Laura Haala, brothers-in-law, Les Haala and Leonard Wendinger.
