Dorothy Margaretha Geschwind was born in rural Springfield to Andrew and Helene (Schmidt) Renner on March 8, 1913. She had to quit school during her junior year to help out at home after her father died. She worked for Dr. Abbott, MD and Dr. Oleman, DDS as a bookkeeper, nurse, receptionist, and dental assistant. On November 22, 1934 she married C.F. Bud Geschwind in Springfield. She worked for Del Monte during W.W. II as Forelady; because she spoke two dialects of German fluently she could communicate with the Prisoners of War. She also worked for Palace Shoe and Clothing for 26 years and Advertising Unlimited for three years. When her husband became Sheriff, she was the Matron for the jail, took care of the female prisoners, did the laundry, and cooked all the meals. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild and made embroidered baptismal cloths. She also did handiwork and was an avid reader. Dorothy is survived by daughters - Judy and husband Rex Beech of Sleepy Eye and Lynn Geschwind of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents - Andrew and Helene (Schmidt) Renner; husband - C.F. Bud Geschwind in 1985; daughter - Marlene (Art) Sena in 1995; brothers - George (Pat), Arnold (Coletha); sisters - Harold (Margery), Hertha (Elmer) Prechel, Mildred (Jess) Todd, Helene (Udo) Viergutz and Lucille in infancy.
