Doris C. Huiras was born February 9, 1932 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, MN, the daughter of Leo A. and Minnie (Seidl) Schroepfer. She attended country school and St. Mary's School in Sleepy Eye. Doris married Edwin Eddie Huiras on October 14, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed in Leavenworth Township, raised a family and celebrated 54 years of marriage. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Catholic Aid, Christian Mothers, Parish Choir, Polka Angels for many years and also a rosary leader. She enjoyed old time music, quilting, gardening, flowers and visiting with family, grandchildren and friends. Survivors include her children, Wayne (Julie) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, Cindy (Rich) Steele of Eagan, Jeanie (Randy) Tauer of Morgan, 4 grandchildren, Mike (Katie) Huiras, Matt Steele, Ashley (Alex) Keehn, Alissa Tauer, brother, Leo (Lorraine) Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye, sisters, Phyllis Stoneberg of Sleepy Eye, Mary Alice Berberich of Comfrey, Diane (Lawrence) Heiderscheidt of Sleepy Eye and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin in 2007, daughter, Mary (Tom) Schmitz and brother, Darrell Schroepfer.
