Donald Hogen

March 20, 1927 — October 14, 2008

Donald Frank Hogen was born on March 20, 1927 in Lucan, MN, the son of Frank and Rose (Zeug) Hogen. He attended Lucan grade school and graduated from Milroy High School in 1945. Don served in the US Navy during World War II from May of 1945 until July of 1946. He worked for his dad in the construction business until he started his own in Sanborn in 1955. On June 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Delores Simpson in Lamberton, MN. Don started Lamberton Ready Mix in April of 1964 and sold it in March of 1988 retiring from construction in 1992. Don enjoyed fishing and old cars. He went on his first New London to New Brighton Car Run in August of 1987 in a 1908 International. He served on the Sanborn City Council for years, United Methodist Church Board as Treasurer and currently as Trustee. Don was also a 27 year member of the Sanborn Fire Department and a member of the Colburn American Legion Post #286 in Sanborn since 1945. Donald F. Hogen died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at his home in Sanborn, MN. He is survived by his wife - Delores; children - Steven (Kathy) Hogen of Sanborn, Gail (Jim) Prokosch of Redwood Falls, and Rosie (Winston) Venable of Redwood Falls; 7 grandchildren - Christina, Corey, Laurie, Dustin, Jackie, Jenny, and Angela; siblings - Helen Jorgenson of Canal Fulton, OH, James (Delores) Hogen of Lucan, and Sandra (Michael) Decker of Cloquet; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister - Lucille; and a brother - Francis.
