Donald Verlun Haase was born June 24, 1926 at Slayton, MN to Christopher Mae (Miller) Haase. He was baptized on June 28, 1928 at the Presbyterian Church in Slayton and confirmed in 1957 at the Hadley Lutheran Church. Don grew up on a farm near Slayton. On February 9, 1947, he was married to Henrietta Meyer at the Pfingsten Lutheran Church in Fulda, MN. Don and Henrietta made their home on a farm near Hadley, MN until moving to Sleepy Eye in 1961. Don worked as a mechanic for various farm implement dealers in the Sleepy Eye-New Ulm area. Don retired in 1988 but spent many hours helping his family with projects and working out of his shop in the garage. On September 13, 2002, Henrietta passed away and Don lived alone until he became a resident of Countryside Retirement Community and later moved to the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Don passed away there on November 17, 2008 at the age of 82. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Don is survived by four daughters: Carol, Mrs. Delbert Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye; Dixie, Mrs. Thomas Kluver of Bloomington; Linda, Mrs. Casper Tiedeken of New Ulm; Donna, Mrs. Jon Medin of Parker, CO. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta, parents, 1 grandchild, 1 great-grandchild and his sister.
