Caroline Pelzel

Caroline Pelzel of Wabasso formerly of Wanda, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the Springfield Medical Center. Caroline was born to Carl and Caroline (Vogl) Plaetz on December 24, 1912, in Lucan. On June 17, 1941, she married Edmund Pelzel at St. Anne's Church in Wabasso and settled in Wanda where they raised their family. Caroline lived in Wanda for 57 years and moved to Heritage Apartments in Wabasso in 1998. She was a member of St. Mathias Church, St. Mathias CCW and St. Anne's Catholic Aid. She enjoyed her family, playing cards, gardening and a clean house. Caroline is survived by her children; Don (Josie) of Highland, Michigan, Rose (Bob) Kettler of Savage, Charles of Shorewood, Joe (Carol) of Burnsville, Dave (special friend Deborah Carey) of Bloomington, Jerome (special friend Jenny O'Connor) of Fairfax, Carol of Bloomington, and, Rita (Lynn) Hillesheim of Morgan; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother Louie (Lucille) Plaetz, sisters Hannah Storm, Margaret Brown and Delores Frericks; sister-in-law Marcella Plaetz and brother-in-law Alois Guetter. Her husband, parents, brothers Frank, Carl, Lawrence and Barney, and sister Betty preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to: St. Anne's Catholic School and St. Mathias Catholic Church.
