Bernice L. Dick age 87, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society, Sogge Memorial Home in Windom, Minnesota. Service will be held at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 am. All are welcome. The service leader will be Willard Dick. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mtn. Lake, Minnesota. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Bernice Gregory was born on January 8, 1934 near Pellston, MI to Amos and Elsie (Brubacher) Gregory. Her family attended the Maple River Mennonite Church, where she was baptized at 13. She attended a one room school and graduated from Pellston High School as valedictorian. She attended Goshen College with a B.S. in nursing in 1955.After working for 2 years in Petesky, MI, she moved to Denver, CO and worked at the University Hospital for 3 years. There she met Alvin Dick. They were united in marriage at the First Mennonite Church in Denver in 1960. In 1961, Bernice and Alvin moved to Mountain Lake. They farmed west of Mountain Lake and raised three sons. Bernice worked part time at the Mountain Lake Hospital for 30 years until it closed in 1991. She finished her nursing career at Sogge Memorial Nursing Home. She served over 20 years with AWANA in various capacities. Her favorite was council story teller, mostly Bible stories. Bernice volunteered at the Care and Share for 21 years. Many of those years were on the board and some as chairman. For the last 10 years she served Sunday morning coffee hostess at Community Bible Church in Mountain Lake. She loved gardening, especially flowers, and also cooking. Bernice was a student of the Bible, having read through it the first time when she was 14 years old. She loved poetry, especially that of the Hymns. Bernice is survived by her three sons, Steven (Tania) of Cartersville, GA, Jonathan (Victoria) of Fresno, CA, James (Shannon) of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Lydia, Nadia, Savannah, Jacob, Sophia, Tyler and Audrey; sister, Ila Gregory of Michigan and brother, Gerald Gregory of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Dick; her parents, Amos and Elsie Gregory; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Let her be remembered as one who loved to serve others. Blessed be her memory.
