There will be a Parish Prayer Service Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Arthur Carl Baumann was born January 28, 1925, in Springfield, MN, the son of John and Mary (Nachtman) Baumann. He graduated from Milroy High School and was united in marriage to Margaret Solyntjes on April 17, 1952, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. Art worked as a plumber and pipe-fitter, as well as farming until his retirement. Following Margaret's death in 1988, Art married Alice Hauptli on April 19, 1990, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was a 20-year member of the Springfield Fire Department where he served as captain of the Hook and Ladder Crew. Art was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and family, wood-working, and especially enjoyed his summers at Lake Minnewaska during the summers. Arthur Carl Baumann died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato at the age of 84 years. He is survived by wife Alice of Springfield; children- Chuck and wife Cheryl Baumann of Springfield, Linda and husband Mark Brown of Springfield, and Jean and husband Mike Halvorson of Sanborn; grandchildren- Christie Vogel, Carrie Roiger, Mandy Morin, Jenny Larson, Scott Halvorson, and Jonathon Halvorson; 8 great-grandchildren; step-son Mick Hauptli of Clements; step-daughter-in-law Jean Hauptli of Alexandria; step-granddaughter Heather Hauptli; sisters-in-law- Agnes Thoms, Gladys Jensen, Elma Braun, Vera Thoms, Mildred Kreitinger, Germaine Baumann, and Delores Baumann; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; step-son James Hauptli; brothers- John, Bud, Leo, Ray, and Pete; and sisters- Josephine, Ann, Dolly, Rose, and Betty.
