Arlowe Engen

Arlowe R. Engen was born April 16, 1928, in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Burreson) Engen. Arlowe attended District 3 Country School in Highwater Township and the Veteran's Ag School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in November of 1951 and served with the 179th Infantry in the Korean Conflict as a Tank Commander. Arlowe was honorably discharged December 1, 1959. On May 22, 1954, Arlowe was united in marriage to Audria Link at the E.U.B. Church in Lamberton. In 1972, Arlowe surrendered himself to the Lord Jesus Christ which forever changed his heart and relationship with God. A lifetime resident of Highwater Township, he farmed for 53 years before retiring in 1993. Arlowe and Audria spent 14 winters in Mesa, AZ where they made many additonal friends. He was a member of Highwater Lutheran Church, held various board positions and taught Sunday School. Arlowe also served on the Jeffers Oil Board, the Cottonwood County Soil and Water Conservation Board, and the RCRCA. He enjoyed collecting and working on antique tractors, and collecting various John Deere items. Arlowe also enjoyed visiting with friends and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arlowe R. Engen died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Those who shared their life with Arlowe and mourn his passing include his wife- Audria; children- Karen Rich Hubert of Albertville, David Connie Engen of Revere, Keith Sandy Engen of Lamberton, and Kenov Beth Engen of Lamberton; grandchildren- Matt Marsha Hubert, Dan Melissa Hubert, Elizabeth Nate Brennan, Justin, Clint, Kirk, Ashley, Mark, Britta, Emily, Thea, Andrew, Fern, Hannah Luke Engen; great grandchildren- Brandt, Payton, Morgan, Tyler, Brooke, Kailey Zachary Hubert; brother- James Lu Etta Engen of Lamberton; sister- Joyce Fisher of Littleton, CO; and brother-in-law- Aaron Muriel Link. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson- Caleb Engen; and brother-in-law- George Fisher, Jr.
