Anna Quiring

Anna Dick Quiring, the daughter of Jacob B. and Anna Dick, was born January 18, 1913, at the Mountain Lake Hospital. She was baptized May 24, 1931, at Bergfelder Church in Mountain Lake. Anna grew up on a farm 4 miles south of Mountain Lake and received her education at the District 12 country school in Mountain Lake Township. She was united in marriage to Paul Quiring on April 16, 1936, at the Bergfelder Church. The couple made their home and farmed together near Delft for 2 years before moving to a farm near Mountain Lake. They moved into Mountain Lake in 1969. Anna was an amazing woman and all who knew her loved her and considered her a friend. She was a hard worker and was always helping wherever there was a need. In addition to farming and raising chickens, she and Paul owned a Drive Inn that Anna enjoyed managing. She cooked at the nursing home for many years and was always ready to feed anyone who came to their home. Anna loved gardening, knitting, crocheting, and sewing and made countless gifts for all those she loved. Most recently she crocheted over 100 helmet liner caps for the military in Iraq. Volunteering was a big part of her life as well. For many years you would find her in the summer kitchen or making lefse at the Butterfield Threshing Bee. Anna made the best of every situation and was an inspiration to all. She never complained, loved with all her heart, and enjoyed being with her family as often as possible. At 99, she still felt the need to care for them and was disappointed when she couldn't. Anna is survived by sons- Harold and wife Leota Hall Quiring of Mountain Lake, and Lowell Quiring of Herman, MO; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Tina Ugalde of California; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul in 2009; daughter Betty Jean Green; brothers- Peter and Jacob; and sister Helen.
