Althea Mabel Lindstrom, daughter of Carl and Agnes (Topper) Lindstrom, was born January 15, 1917 in Odin Township, MN. She grew up on a farm near Butterfield. On December 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to William Pankratz in Mountain Lake. After their marriage they farmed their entire working years in Butterfield and the Mountain Lake area. William died suddenly on November 19, 1985. Althea was married to Merle Stoneberg on November 26, 1988. They lived on a farm near Comfrey, MN. Merle died September 26, 2007. She loved playing cards, having morning coffee and listening to the Marantha Singers. She collected cardinal birds, always had a Bible on the table, helped doing outside chores, and looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for making Zwiebach, brownies and apple crap. She was a resident of Mountain Lake Good Samaritan Village for three years. While there she took pleasure in putting puzzles together. Survivors include three daughters, LaVonne Thomforde of Red Wing, MN, Glennice (Richard) Hoek of Comfrey, MN, Jean Eigen of New Jersey; one son, DeLyle (Merlys) Pankratz of Fayal Township, Eveleth, MN; nine grandchildren: Tabor, Kim, Trent, Kandra, Natalie, Nicole, Noel, Shadette, and Trilby; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands William Pankratz (1985) and Merle Stoneberg (2007); a sister Catherine Lindstrom, and a brother Carl Lindstrom.
