Alice Dora Willaby, the daughter of Henry and Olga (Ruddat) Willaby was born on February 22, 1931 near Comfrey, MN. Alice grew up at Dotson, MN and later attended school at Leavenworth, MN and Comfrey. Alice was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her Christian Faith at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, MN. On June 20, 1948, Alice was united in marriage to Afrom Zimmer at the Salam Lutheran Church in Comfrey. They lived in Mountain Lake until moving to Bertha, MN in 1954, where she worked in the area hospital. In 1972 they moved to Comfrey, where she worked at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. From 1974 to 1996 they lived on a farm near Storden, MN, and she worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Westbrook, MN for 25 years until retiring and moving to Windom, MN. Alice was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Alice died at the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009, at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Jodi Zimmer; three sons, one in infancy, Douglas Zimmer and Allen Zimmer; and three sisters, Lillian Polzin, Ruby Sondag and Arlene Karstens. Alice is survived by her husband Afrom Zimmer of Windom; a daughter, Tammy Crowell and husband Chad of Windom; three sons, Gordon Zimmer and wife Vicki, Donald Zimmer and wife Deb, and Thomas Zimmer and wife Dawn, all of Windom; eleven grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Willaby and wife Sylvia of Gurnee, IL, and Henry Willaby and wife Cheryl of Springfield, MN; many other relatives and friends.
