Alice Kelly

Alice Lola Roepke was born August 12, 1915, in Jackson, MN to Ernest and Nellie Roepke. As a young child, the family moved to Hubbard, MN. Alice returned to the Jackson area after high school. Alice and James Kelly were married January 20, 1934, in New Ulm and made their home in Comfrey. Alice was homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed babysitting, gardening, swimming, and cooking. Alice was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey, the CCW, the American Legion Auxiliary for 58 years, and the St. Paul's Sewing Circle. Alice dedicated every Sunday to spend time with her family. Alice Kelly died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield on her 97th birthday. She is survived by children- Robert and wife Annette Kelly of Comfrey, and Virginia and husband Vernon Pederson of Comfrey; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers- Ernest Roepke of Hemet, CA, and Jerry and wife Bea Roepke of Park Rapids, MN; and sister Virginia Hottel of Stratford, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James in 1992; brothers- Kenneth and William; and sisters- Alta, Doris, Edith, Wilma, and Janet.
