Alan Guyer

Alan Lyle Guyer, age 63, of Madelia, died on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia and will continue one hour before services at the church Saturday. The clergy will be Pastor Salim Kaderbhai Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Madelia at a later date. Alan was born November 11th, 1950 in Madelia, MN to Lyle Irene (Nolta) Guyer. He married Kathyrn Christenson on June 19th, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran in Madelia, MN. Alan enjoyed farming and raising livestock. He had a special connection to the animals that he cared for. He enjoyed watching the bald eagles that nested near his home as well as the wild turkeys that frequented the farmyard. He was a dedicated Minnesota sports fan and enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves as well as the Golden Gophers. Family was very important to Alan, and he enjoyed watching his children playing sports and cheered them on when they played in athletics and throughout their life's endeavors. He also thought hard work was good for his kids and they learned the value of hard work from his example. He enjoyed spending time with his neighbors and friends at Northside. Alan is survived by his wife; Kathyrn Guyer of Madelia, Children; Gregory ( Renee) Guyer of North Mankato, Matthew (Beth) Guyer of Champlin, Samuel ( Melanie) Guyer of Madelia, Kimberly Guyer ( Owen Swerkstrom) of Eagle Mountain, Utah. Grandchildren; Garrett and Leah Guyer. He is preceded in death by his parents.
