Alan Anderson

November 21, 1937 — June 8, 2010

Alan Edgar Anderson was born November 21, 1937, in Springfield, MN, the son of Tom and Anna (Gould) Anderson. He attended country school District #40 and graduated from Springfield High School in 1955. He farmed with his dad and brothers before enlisting in the U.S. Army in January of 1957. Alan served in Germany for two years before returning to farm with brother Tom. The brothers raised hogs and milk cows and Alan began his lifelong passion of raising feeder cattle in 1968. He was united in marriage to Jan Stern on August 21, 1965, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Alan served on the REA Board, sold seed corn, was a member of John Watson American Legion Post #257, and was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed current events, figuring, geography, history and politics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Alan Edgar Anderson died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at his home at the age of 72 years. He is survived by wife Jan; daughters- Heidi and husband Dan Feser and their children Luke and Alana of Roberts, WI, and Heather and husband John Holles and their children Abbie, Caleb and Annie of Springfield; brothers- Andy (Pearl) Anderson of Redwood Falls, Lowell (Annette) Anderson of Springfield, and Tom Anderson of Springfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law- Mel and Mary Ann Stern, Bill and Donna Knadel, and JoAnn Louis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dick and wife Norma Anderson; sister-in-law Bonnie, Mrs. Tom Anderson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Emil and Eve Stern; and brothers-in-law Marv Stern and Alex Louis.
