Anthony 'Tony' Joseph Hauger was born September 16, 1911, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Charles and Magnalena (Rademaker) Hauger. Tony moved to Springfield at the age of 2 and attended country school and St. Raphael's Elementary School. Tony farmed his entire life in Burnstown and North Star Townships until his retirement. He was united in marriage to DeMaris Keckstein on January 29, 1951, at Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Tony was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, an avid gardener and loved to work in his yard. He made daily trips to Springfield to visit and shake dice at "Fritz's Place". After moving to St. John Lutheran Home, Tony became known as 'Grandpa Tony' to all the Grandkids, and enjoyed visiting with residents and staff.

Tony Hauger died Friday, April 23, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 98 years.

He is survived by wife DeMaris of Springfield; children- Warren and wife Cathy Hauger of Springfield, Karen and husband Art Stenzel of Minnesota Lake, and Sally and husband Dennis Anderson of Springfield; grandchildren- Andrew Hauger, Ben (Amber) Hauger, Matthew Hauger, Scott (Michelle) Stenzel, and Kelly (Kris) Schlueter; great-grandchildren- Lucas Hauger, Mason Schlueter, and Adaliene Stenzel; sisters- Dorothy Sprank of Burnsville and Lorraine Kelly of Burnsville; sisters-in-law- Mary Ann Hauger of Shakopee, Kathy Hauger of Springfield, and LeRone (Mel) Wilfahrt of New Ulm; brothers-in-law- A.J. Schunk of Burnsville and Wesley Langhoff of New Ulm; and the staff and residents of Station 1 at St. John Lutheran Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Carl, Jon and Lawrence; sisters- Henrietta Nado, Virginia Langhoff, and Marie Schunk; brothers-in-law- Warren Kelly, Willard Nado, and James Sprank; and sister-in-law Elna and husband Carl Hauger.
