Perry M. Augustin died on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

There will be a Rosary on Monday at 4:00 PM and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Perry Michael Augustin was born August 6, 1919 in Mulligan Township, the son of Michael and Mary (Meidl) Augustin. He attended rural country school District #70 through the 8th grade. Perry served during World War II for nearly four years from 1942 - 1945. He made the initial landing with his troops in Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio, Italy and in southern France. On September 6, 1949, Perry was united in marriage to Marion Windschitl in Leavenworth. Perry farmed with his brother Eddie until retirement and also did custom farm work. His pride and joy was keeping up his farm yard which he used for miniature golf. Perry was a lifetime member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church in Leavenworth where he served as one of the first commentators and also on the parish council. He served as treasurer on the board of the Rural School District #70, as treasurer for the Mulligan Township for 30 years and as treasurer of the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Society for 20 years. Perry was also a dedicated blood donor and received his 5 gallon pin. He was a member of the Springfield Knights of Columbus, the Holy Catholic Aid Society in Leavenworth, the VFW and was a baseball pitcher for the Leavenworth Orioles. Perry's hobbies included fishing, golfing, bowling, wood working - especially making projects for family; he learned to be a carpenter from his dad. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's sporting activities and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Perry enjoyed being a "snowbird" in Florida and Arizona and enjoyed cribbage and puzzles.

Perry died on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center at the age of 88 years.

He is survived by his wife - Marion Augustin of rural Springfield; children - Sandra (Steven) Hillesheim of New Ulm, Judy (Robert) Krzmarzick of Minnetonka, MN, Linda (Steve) Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Roxanne (Randy) Armbruster of Sleepy Eye, Renee (Steven) Swift of Comfrey, Connie (Jon) Kelly of Comfrey, and Ricky Augustin of Springfield; 19 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson - Jay Perry Hillesheim; sisters - Marcella Schroepfer and Loretta Windschitl; brothers - Edwin Augustin and a half brother - Roman Meidl.
