Barbara was born on May 9, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of John
& Clara (Majeski) Gromek. After John's death, Clara married William Richter.
Barbara grew up in the Bird Island area and married Richard on August 7,
1948 in Bird Island, MN. They moved to Sleepy Eye in 1962 and raised seven
children. Barbara did the bookkeeping and billing for her husband's
business, Dick's Skelly Service. She was a member of the Christian Mothers,
Legion Auxiliary, Divine Providence Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling
league, card club and working at the Nex-tu-new. She also spent many hours
knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, doing embroidery and needlepoint. She
spent much of her summers canning her garden bounty, and never passed up a
good dessert.

She is survived by children & their spouses; Mary Baumann & Bill Durdin of
Sleepy Eye, Doug & Avis Baumann of Minneapolis, Linda & Carl Erlandson of
Jacksonville, NC, Dan Baumann & Andrea Tauer of Minnetonka, Liz & Steve
Koskiniemi of Staples, Andy & Mary Baumann of Green Bay, WI, 16
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters; Aggie & Jack Davidson of
Sioux Falls, SD, Patty O'Connor of Sioux Falls, SD, Germaine & Jim Schaeffer
of St. Paul, Kathleen & Don Neubauer of Bird Island, brothers; William
"Butch" Richter of Granite Falls, Charles & Kay Richter of New Hope and
Mgsr. John Richter of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, Richard, son, John and sisters, Margaret Schneider and Helen
Schulte.
